Ray A. Johnson was born in Washington, DC where he grew up in the Capital Hill, Kenilworth, and North Michigan Park communities.  Mr. Johnson received his undergraduate degree in Economics from Wesleyan University located in Middletown, Connecticut, and his law degree from the Howard University School of Law.  Mr. Johnson also has an MBA in Finance and Operations Management from the University of Rochester, Rochester, New York.

After a number of years working for the Eastman Kodak Company in Rochester, New York and Atlanta, Georgia, Mr. Johnson became an associate in the Washington office of Nixon Peabody, LLP.  Mr. Johnson represents a large number of local metropolitan DC clients in several areas of the law including Civil Litigation, Residential and Commercial Real Estate Investing, and Estate Planning.  Mr. Johnson frequently provides counseling and legal assistance to small businesses and companies seeking to organize and gain proper certifications under the Federal, State and District laws.

Mr. Johnson served six years on the Board of Directors of the DC Law Students in Court Program which represents low-income tenants and individuals in the District of Columbia Superior Court; three years as an elected member of the Steering Committee for the DC Bar’s Real Estate, Housing and Land Use Section; and one year as Vice-Chair of the DC Bar Real Estate Transactions Committee.  Mr. Johnson is a current member of the District of Columbia Superior Court Probate Division’s Fiduciary Panel and the Virginia State Bar’s Circuit Committee for the Resolution of Fee Disputes.  Mr. Johnson is a certified mediator in alternative dispute resolution with the District of Columbia Office of Human Rights.  Mr. Johnson serves on the Board of Directors for several organizations and associations throughout the metropolitan area including the Vista Gardens Homeowners Association and the Christian Legal Society.  




Mr. Johnson is admitted to practice law in the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Virginia, before the United States District Court for the District of Columbia, and the United Stated Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit.  Mr. Johnson is a member of the American Bar Association, the National Bar Association, the Washington Bar Association, the Virginia State Bar Association, and the International Association of Approved Basketball Officials.
